We on New Fresh Music had the chance to interview the hot upcoming artist Pooley!

Where are you from?

I’m a singer, rapper and songwriter from the UK. I live in a sunny sea side town called Scarborough, north east of England.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?

I have many influences and respect all genres of music. I listen to a wide range of different styles from pop, rap, pop punk, and EDM.

My artist influences range from Ed Sheeran, jax jones, Charlieonafriday, Jamie millar, Aitch, Aloe blacc, and Connor Maynard.

Tell me about how your creation part begins, and how is your workflow.

I often start a song by writing lyrics about how I am feeling at the present time. I reflect on these lyrics and create complex word plays and will often relate to the subject through metaphors.

I will then send my ideas and melodies to my engineer who will create a custom beat based on what I send him.

Once I have the beat I will write melodies and rewrite the lyrics to fit. This process often takes a little bit of time and I can sit for hours listening and rehearsing lyrics on repeat.

I then find myself recording vocal takes, changing a few melodies, layering backing vocals, harmonies, and anything else I feel the track needs to reach its fullest potential.

Where do you find inspiration?

I often find the inspiration through new and upcoming artists tracks I have been recently listening too. I then write and create a track in my own style. Once I’m in this process I see it through to the very end. Everything I create reflects on how I am feeling at the given time.

When is your favorite time of day to create your music?

My favourite time to write, record and produce songs is often in the evening when I’m alone. I often have a few beers, a couple glasses of wine, or spirits to help me relax and keep me motivated.

Describe how art is essential to society nowadays

Art comes in many forms, for me this is in the form of music. I love the whole process of creating songs, music is my way of escaping everyday life and showing my hidden emotions and thoughts.

What motivates you to create?

If I have been experiencing certain emotions through that week wether sad, happy, grief, or if anything major occurs in my life I find this gives me the motivation to produce a song.

How do you define success as a music artist?

Does art help you in other areas of your life?

For me success would be in the form of as many people as possible listening to my songs and hearing my thoughts and feelings through music. When words fail, music speaks.

How do you develop your art skills?

I play piano and love to sit and relax and play covers of popular songs. This often creates new ideas for future songs and develops my skills in songwriting.

What is your next move?

My next move… haha, well to reach a wider audience and be played on the major Uk radio stations to further gain exposure and recognition.

Where will we see you in 5 years?

In the year I have been professionally releasing music I feel I have got better and better with each track I have released . I aim to continue and better my knowledge and understanding and produce more and more tracks with the intent of gaining exposure to a wider audience.
