The upcoming artist “Lauren Caruso” release the hit song “Music Is The Key” on Spotify!

Where are you from?
Originally from Yonkers, NY but have been living in Florida the past 8 years.

Who are your biggest artistic influences?
Aretha Franklin, Christina Aguilera, Alicia Keys, Mary J. Blige, Lady Gaga

Tell me about how your creation part begins, and how is your workflow.
I love to write poems/songs and keep a notebook, and voice notes on my phone, with ideas whenever they pop up in my head. Usually it’s a catchy hook or part of a verse I’ll jot down – and then build on it when I have time to play around. Once I have the melody and lyrics developed, I use Logic to start creating the track and then work with professionals to help me develop and finesse it.

Where do you find inspiration?
I have always been a very emotional and empathetic person. I find it easy to connect with others and the world around me, but have also felt deep disconnection within myself at times. These highs and lows I have experienced fuel the fire of the things I am inspired to write and sing about.

When is your favorite time of day to create your music?
I get my best ideas in the morning when I first wake up. The ideas seem to pour in and I like to keep a notebook by my bed so I can write things down as soon as I wake up. I also have 4 kids, ages 3, 6, 7 and 8 – so while they’re in school is ideal for me to work on my music!

Describe how art is essential to society nowadays.
Art is essential because it allows individuals to express themselves freely and be perfectly imperfect. I believe allowing ourselves to create art, no matter in what form, is necessary for one’s fulfillment. If we were all able follow our artistic passions and create what we love, this world would begin to shift into a happier more cohesive place where we would thrive, not just survive.

What motivates you to create?
I create music to empower, reconnect and open people’s minds to the reality of what is going on in this world. We are all facing very challenging times and I believe music has the power to bring us together in a positive way.

How do you define success as a music artist?
Music has always been very healing for me, so success as a music artist would mean knowing my songs have inspired and helped others through their own life experiences.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?
The art of music helps me not only get through heavy emotional experiences, but also the everyday little things. Doing the dishes, laundry and other chores often feel very draining without music playing. I also enjoy creating art with my children, it is a great time to have fun and connect with them.

How do you develop your art skills?
I am currently taking singing lessons. I try and practice every morning and write as much as I can, developing future song ideas. I have also taken a few classes learning the basics of Logic.

What is your next move?
My plan is to continue promoting “Music is the Key” through different social media platforms. I also have a new song, “Start Today”, coming out the end of May that I am super excited about. I have been preparing to record that soon.

Where will we see you in 5 years?
In 5 years, I would love to see myself writing songs for animated films, like “Trolls”. I also envision collaborating with an animation artist to create a “good vibes” type of show, like “Motown Magic”, that would incorporate my music. As a mom of four, I see great potential in these family friendly animated shows and movies. They grab the attention of all ages in a fun way, but also teach real life lessons that I feel is so important with today’s challenges.
