Where are you from?
My name is Pavan, and my stage name is PavLyfe. I am originally from Irvine, CA

Who are your biggest artistic influences?
My biggest artist influences are Tiesto, Martin Garrix, and Swedish House Mafia. Ever since I was a young teenager I have been an avid fan of them and they have served as my inspiration to pursue developing my own musical path.

Tell me about how your creation part begins, and how is your workflow?
My creation process is a constant work-in-progress. I don’t have any prior musical background, in-fact my background is in business and medicine so to endeavor into music was a huge shift in how I create and develop my process. My creation process is derived from my my performances and also watching or attending events of my idols like Tiesto. I derive most of creativity of what I would want to hear if I was in the crowd myself and what I would like to hear in the ever changing landscape of electronic music. My workflow can be sporadic since it’s quite a shift from my career and educational background. I would say though it all starts with the lyrics for me or the type of mood I am crafting for the song. I like to use the emotions or moments I experience in my life to craft my tune or building the song.

Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from my friends and my fans. Most of all I get a lot of inspiration from being at concerts and events that I would one day want to be the performer of myself. I also hone in on my inspiration by always listening to different type of music from electronic to country to rock. I think there is a lot of unique genres that really inspire me to create a new type of sound.

When is your favorite time of day to create your music?
Honestly, I am a late-night owl during my creation process. I’ve been well accustomed to late nights given my life in medicine and juggling multiple roles. I love performing during the night and creating because it’s the time when I truly feel at peace, atleast to some degree, to have a clear palette to develop what I am thinking of.

Describe how art is essential to society nowadays?
I think it is incredibly important to have a vibrant art and music culture. Growing up, artistic endeavors were not always the biggest priority but as I have grown and expanded my horizons, I have the utmost respect for art and music. Art can express so much whether it be in words, painting, photos, etc. Without art we can’t understand how society advances or struggled through, or even accomplished. It can convey everything from happiness to sadness. As the famous saying goes, “ A picture is worth a 1000 words”

What motivates you to create?
As DJ PavLyfe, my motivation to create music stems from a profound desire to connect with people on a universal level. Music, for me, is not just an expression of creativity but also a powerful conduit for emotions and experiences. Drawing from my diverse background in medicine and business, I see music as another realm to impact lives positively, offering solace, joy, and a shared rhythm that pulses through every listener.

How do you define success as a music artist?
Success as a music artist, in my view, transcends mere popularity or financial gain. It is about the resonance of my work with the audience and its lasting impact on their lives. True success is measured by the ability to inspire and provoke thought, bridging cultures and fostering a sense of community. It’s about being authentic and staying true to my vision while adapting and evolving with the dynamic landscape of music.

Does art help you in other areas of your life?
Absolutely, art enriches every facet of my life. It hones my ability to observe, empathize, and communicate, which are crucial skills in both my medical and business endeavors. The creative process in music production mirrors the problem-solving required in medicine and business, promoting a unique cross-pollination of skills that enhances my effectiveness and intuition across these fields.

How do you develop your art skills?
Developing my art skills is an ongoing process that involves constant learning, practicing, and experimenting. I immerse myself in a wide range of musical genres and cultural experiences to enrich my understanding and execution of music. Collaborating with other artists and embracing new technologies also play a significant role in refining my craft and pushing creative boundaries.

What is your next move?
My next move as PavLyfe is to expand my reach by integrating more global influences into my music and collaborating with artists from different backgrounds. I plan to leverage digital platforms more effectively to connect with a broader audience and explore innovative ways to deliver immersive musical experiences, both online and in live settings. I want learn more about music production and also being a performer. As someone who has always been in leadership roles and been a stage presence in a different aspect, I always strive to be a better speaker, leader, and now a musical artist.

Where will we see you in 5 years?
In five years, I envision PavLyfe as an established name in the music industry, known for a unique blend of sounds that reflect my diverse experiences and passions. I aim to have a solid portfolio of collaborative projects that highlight my versatility and commitment to quality. Additionally, I see myself using my platform to advocate for important social causes, making a meaningful difference beyond the music scene. I have always been and still am a major healthcare and education advocate. Who knows in 5 years I hope to make an appearance for a major music festival or concert.
